I didn’t her!” They thought they were doing the right thing. They were dead wrong. Based on a true story, ‘Johnny Frank Garrett’s Last Word’ follows the story in 1981 of Sister Tadea Benz, a 76-year-old nun, who was raped, strangled, beaten and stabbed to death. Johnny Frank Garrett, age 17 at the time the crimes were committed, who always maintained his innocence but he was found guilty and sentenced to death.
“We’re assembled here today to witness the execution of Johnny Frank Garrett. Anything you want to say to us right now son?” “I would like to tell you for a final time that I am innocent.” Johnny Frank Garrett never killed anyone…Until he died. On the night of his execution, he wrote a curse letter condemning the people and their families who helped send him to his demise promising vengeance for all those connected to his unfair trial.
“There’s been a lot of strange things happening to people connected to the trial. Accidents, illnesses, she’s been having dreams about Johnny Frank Garrett.” Shortly after Garrett’s death, members of the community start mysteriously dying. “You’re saying he might have been innocent? I got a surprise coming for you.” One of the jurors takes it upon himself to break the curse and sets out to uncover the truth.
‘Johnny Frank Garrett’s Last Word’ is the terrifying story of what happened next. Johnny Frank Garrett was executed in Texas February in 1992. His case was examined in the 2008 documentary The Last Word by Jesse Quackenbush, which argued for Garrett’s innocence.
Directed by Simon Rumley and written by Tony Giglio, Ben Ketai, and Marc Haimes with a cast that includes Sean Patrick Flanery, Erin Cummings, Mike Doyle, Dodge Prince, Sue Rock, Cassie Watson, Mike Gassaway, and Jon Davis the horror film has a theater release date of March 13, 2017.
