“Join the party.” “Dick, right?” “That’s me.” From Jill Soloway, the two-time Emmy winning director and creator of Transparent, comes ‘I Love Dick,’ which tells the story of a struggling married couple (played by Kathryn Hahn and Griffin Dunne) whose relationship is put to the test when they both become drawn to the same enigmatic professor, Dick (Kevin Bacon). Their lives are turned upside down with unintended, but exciting consequences.
“Dear Dick you’re like a Roman God bringing a spirit of sex into our lives.” The trailer is narrated by Hahn and she’s clearly turned on by the mystery of Bacon’s Dick (interesting, amusing use of wordplay). Her husband (Dunne) also gets involved in her attempts to seduce the professor. From the trailer we see what follows is a sexual awakening for the couple, followed by a transformation for Chris.
“I don’t find you interesting. Not now, not ever.” Adapted from the lauded feminist novel, I Love Dick tells the story of a struggling married couple, Chris and Sylvere, and their obsession with a charismatic professor named Dick. Told in first person POV shifts, the series charts the evolution of a marriage, the awakening of an artist and the deification of a writer named Dick.
Created by Sarah Gubbins and Jill Soloway Amazon is bringing ‘I Love Dick’ to their Prime subscribers as a new series after the pilot debuted online on Amazon.com’s Prime subscription streaming service on August 19, 2016.
