“I have no idea what’s happening here, do you?” ‘Castle Rock’ the fictional town of Maine where many of Stephen King’s stories have been set, is a new Hulu show from J.J. Abrams that will take us back to this fictional locale and all the terror and mystery that comes with it. The teaser drops the names of plenty of famous characters and locations from the world of King’s most famous stories. Stories like Cujo, The Dead Zone and The Body are set in that location while works like It, Dreamcatcher, Pete Sematary, Sleepwalkers, The Shawshank Redemption and Under the Dome make reference to the town. Also names like Annie Wiles from Misery, Danny Torrance from The Shining and John Coffey & Mr. Jungles from The Green Mile, all characters whose story takes place far from ‘Castle Rock’ are shown in the teaser suggesting that perhaps the series will tie all of Stephen King’s stories together.
The horror author King himself tweeted a link to the video saying “JJ Abrams and I want to invite you to take a trip to Castle Rock. Soon. Be afraid.” We can expect a mix of weirdness, horror and a lot of mystery. The teaser does say, “from the world of Stephen King.” This could be really interesting, though we have very little information.
There is no cast announced, no Hulu debut date yet, and as you can see from this teaser, no footage they are ready to show as of yet. ‘Castle Rock,’ the series is being written by Manhattan creator Sam Shaw and Dusty Thomason. The Hulu series is slated to premiere in 2018.
