“Most mornings I’m about as worthless as a park bench in hell. Usually don’t start thinking straight until I get a couple of cold ones in me.” In the indie dark comedy ‘Small Town Crime’ an alcoholic ex-cop (John Hawkes) discovers the body of a young woman and, after he finds the dead girl’s phone, he visits his sister (Octavia Spencer) and best friend (Anthony Anderson) late at night in their home, to impress them with his investigative skills.
“I know you found her and you feel responsible but you’re not in this.” Through an act of self-redemption, his dogged determination unwittingly puts his family in danger as he gets caught up with several dark characters along the way.

Due out in theaters later this year the gritty thriller is written and directed by brothers Eshom Nelms and Ian Nelms. The cast also includes Clifton Collins, Jr., Michael Vartan, James Lafferty, Daniel Sunjata, Caity Lotz, Jeremy Ratchford, Don Harvey, Stefanie Scott and Dale Dickey.

Following the world premiere at SXSW, Saban Films and Directv acquired the North American rights to ‘Small Town Crime.’ Lionsgate will release the film in select theaters + on VOD starting January 19, 2018.
