(Trailer) Experience a Connection Beyond Words in Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water’ Other Worldly Fairy Tale

“If I told you about her, the princess without voice, what would I say?” ‘The Shape of Water’ is set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963, in a hidden high-security government laboratory. “She deaf?” “Mute, sir she can hear you.” “You clean that lab, you get out.”

“You may think that thing looks human, stands on two legs, right? But we’re created in the Lord’s image, you don’t think that’s what the Lord looks like do you?” Experience a connection beyond words where lonely janitor Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.

“This creature is intelligent capable of language of understanding emotions.” “When he looks at me he doesn’t know how I am incomplete. He sees me as I am.” Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda discover a secret classified experiment, an amphibious man in a water tank.

“It’s not even human. The natives in the Amazon worshiped it but we got it. We need to take it apart and learn how it works.” Out of loneliness, Elisa befriends the creature. “The asset, do you have it?” “No! I’m getting it back.”

“He’s coming for you, you got to go now and you got to take that thing with you.” An other worldly fairy tale for troubled times, ‘The Shape of Water’ is a mysterious and magical journey of an original tale of a fish man directed by Guillermo del Toro from a screenplay he co-wrote with Vanessa Taylor. The fantasy romance film stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Lauren Lee Smith, Michael Stuhlbarg and Octavia Spencer. It is scheduled for release on December 8, 2017.

And now for something completely different…What do you think?

About

Entertainment of interest to me is not just a repeat of what you can find elsewhere, but, is inclusive of stories that are not highly publicized as well as ‘old-school’ celebrity news.

I see the glass half-full and strive to be a light in the darkness.
