“Tonight we’re taking game night up a notch. Someone in this room is gonna be taken and it’s gonna be up to you to find them.” “It’s a murder mystery party.” In ‘Game Night’ a group of friends who meet regularly for game nights find themselves in for a wild ride, which turns into an investigation of an actual murder mystery.
“Whoever finds the victim wins the grand prize. You’re not gonna know what’s real and what’s fake.” Their weekly couples game night gets kicked up a notch when Max’s charismatic brother, Brooks arranges a murder mystery party, complete with fake thugs and faux federal agents. So when Brooks gets kidnapped, it’s all part of the game…right? But as the six uber-competitive gamers set out to solve the case and win, they begin to discover that neither this “game”—nor Brooks—are what they seem to be.
“I’ve always enjoyed the comradery of good friends competing in games of chance and skill.” “It’s not a joke, people are in real danger.” The players, the clues, the twist, the chase, the goons, and the bloody dog all add to the mystery as the clueless couples are thrown into a world of violence and intrigue. As the group tries to figure out the murder, many different situations, including a shot in the arm and a bloody dog, delay the search.
Over the course of one chaotic night, the friends find themselves increasingly in over their heads as each twist leads to another unexpected turn. With no rules, no points, and no idea who all the players are, this could turn out to be the most fun they’ve ever had…or game over. Directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein from a screenplay by Mark Perez ‘Games Night’ starring Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, Kyle Chandler, Jesse Plemons, and Jeffrey Wright has a theater release date of February 23, 2018.
