“You a cop?” “Not exactly.” In ‘Proud Mary’ Taraji P. Henson is Mary, a hit woman working for an organized crime family in Boston.
“Who the hell are you?” “I’m Mary.” Her life is completely turned around when she meets a young boy whose path she crosses when a professional hit goes bad who sparks her maternal instinct and she decides to watch over him.
Without much dialogue in the trailer set to the tune of “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner (her solo version, sans Ike), the trailer has Henson suiting up in leather and heels, with a visit to a secret weapons closet that could make James Bond envious.
Directed by Babak Najafi from a screenplay written by Steve Antin, John and Stuart Newman the trailer relies entirely on the music, visuals, and some kick ass action. With a full cast that includes Neal McDonough, Danny Glover, Xander Berkeley, Billy Brown, Margaret Avery, Jahi Di’Allo Winston, and Owen Burke, ‘Proud Mary’ is scheduled to hit theaters January 12, 2018.
Reminisce of Foxy Brown…I’m looking forward to this already.
