“Take my advice don’t ever have kids.” They Brought you into this world, Now They’ll Take You Out in the darkly comic action thriller ‘Mom and Dad’ in which parents of a seemingly idyllic suburb all of a sudden have a nagging urge to murder their children and as expected chaos literally ensues.
“What’s going on?” “Multiple reports are now coming in of parents murdering their own children.” The story centers on a teenage girl and her younger brother who must survive a 24-hour mass hysteria of unknown origins — which causes parents to turn violently on their own offspring.
“Mommies here you two alright?” “We’re not coming out, you have to leave.” Parents ruthlessly hunt their offspring. Authorities attempt to stop the carnage, yet they are clueless, ineffective and overpowered. Kids are left to their own wits, resources and improvised weapons from their homes, to fend of the attacks. Love becomes hate and blood lines become blood pools as kids and parents battle to the death.
Written and directed by Brian Taylor, Nicolas Cage and Selma Blair are well cast in the roles as manic and world-weary parents. Featured in this year’s Toronto International Film Festival in the film for a 24-hour period, many children find themselves hunted by their crazed parents—who are driven by an inexplicable force to kill their children. No explanation, no motivation. Also starring Anne Winters ‘Mom and Dad’ was released in theaters January 19, 2018.
Um, okay…don’t give parents any ideas…LOL. Thoughts?
