“I need you to escort a prisoner on a death-bed visit.” “Her mama’s dying and you’re taking her down, 36 hours…what if I die?” In ‘Furlough’ a rookie correction officer is given the task to take an inmate who is granted one weekend out of prison to see her dying mother.
“Don’t turn your back on the prisoner, don’t let the prisoner out of your sight and whatever she says don’t believe her.” “For the next 36 hours I own you.” “Can we go now?” “You don’t tell me when to go, I tell you when to go, okay? Okay let’s go.” But things soon spiral out of control as the rookie cop struggles to keep her under control.
“We’re gonna have a good time. One thing I learned in this world is that you gotta help yourself because no one else will.” “You have 6 months left and now you’re sinking, this is where you grew up?” “Home sweet home.” Directed by Laurie Collyer from a screenplay written by Barry Strugatz, Tessa Thompson, Academy Award(R) winner Melissa Leo, and Whoopi Goldberg lead an ensemble cast in this hilarious, surprising, and ultimately touching road trip.
“Mother I’m home, oh my god you’re still with us!” “Stay away from my granddaughter.” “I would like to meet her someday alright?” “I think it’s best that we forget about this weekend. Our little secret.” With a cast that also includes Oscar winner Anna Paquin, Édgar Ramírez, and La La Anthony ‘Furlough’ will be released in select theaters + on VOD March 16, 2018.
